Auckland police search for escaped inmate

Police believe a prisoner who escaped while attending a funeral is in the west Auckland area.

Lusitino Selesele escaped from Corrections custody last Thursday while on compassionate temporary escort from Spring Hill Corrections Facility.

He is described as a 41-year-old Pacific Islander, 1.82m tall and of large build.

Detective Senior Sergeant Roger Small says police believe he is with his partner, Jacinta Sale, who has two warrants for her arrest for driving while disqualified.

She is described as a Pacific Islander, around 1.78m tall and of medium build.

Det Sen Sgt Small says both Selesele and Sale are thought to be in the Waitakere area and to be using a white Holden Combo van, registration CYN814.
