An Auckland rugby coach is set to stand trial next year facing dozens of allegations of sexually abusing young boys.

Alosio Taimo pleaded not guilty to 81 charges of sexual offending against children under 12 and teenage boys when he appeared at the High Court at Auckland on Wednesday.

The charges included 25 of indecent assault against boys under 12, along with sexual connection with children and unlawful sexual connection with teenage boys, among others.

While Justice Simon Moore lifted a suppression on Taimo's name on Wednesday, he prohibited the publication of any schools or clubs he had been associated with.

A trial has been scheduled for February next year and Taimo will appear again in court in June.
