Auckland teenager Olivia McTaggart has vaulted to third in the world youth rankings with a 4.30m clearance, adding a further 8cm to her national under-17 record in the process.

McTaggart last month cleared 4.22m, breaking Olympic bronze medallist Eliza McCartney's New Zealand under-17 record by 11cm.

In Auckland at the weekend, McTaggart soared over 4.30m on the third attempt, and has now vaulted 19cm higher than McCartney at a similar age.

McTaggart is the top-ranked 16-year-old in the world, and sits fourth on the New Zealand women's all-time list behind McCartney, Melina Hamilton and Jenni Dryburgh.
