Socceroos left-sided utility Craig Goodwin has scored for Sparta Rotterdam in a comeback 2-2 draw against Willem II in Dutch football's top-flight competition.

Willem II looked like ending their five-match winless run in the Eredivisie when a Fran Sol Ortiz double put them in control in Rotterdam.

However, goals from former Adelaide United star Goodwin in the 69th minute and Thomas Verhaar - in the 90th - salvaged a draw for the hosts.

The 24-year-old Goodwin came on as a second-half substitute for Sparta who are eighth in the competition and 12 points behind runaway leaders Feyenoord.

The news wasn't so good for fellow Australian Jason Davidson who was sent off after 36 minutes for Groningen who lost 3-0 to Heerenveen.

Goodwin was an unused substitute in Australia's 1-1 draw with Japan in Melbourne last week.
