Advancing trade in the Asia-Pacific region will be a priority for discussions between Prime Minister Bill English and his Australian counterpart later this week.

Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull will travel to Queenstown on Friday to meet with Mr English for the annual Australia-New Zealand Leaders' meeting.

Mr Turnbull will be accompanied by Treasurer Scott Morrison and Industries Minister Arthur Sinodinos for the meetings, while Finance Minister Steven Joyce and Economic Development Minister Simon Bridges will also attend.

Mr English said there would be a review of progress towards trans-Tasman economic integration ambitions and discussions around global economic trends.

"We will continue discussions on the situation of New Zealanders in Australia, particularly following Prime Minister Turnbull's welcome announcement in 2016 of a pathway to citizenship," he said.

The two PMs will meet with business leaders and lay a wreath at the Arrowtown War Memorial during the two-day visit.
