Real Madrid have announced that Welsh winger Gareth Bale has suffered a calf injury but no timescale was put on his comeback.

Gareth Bale has been ruled out of Real Madrid's Spanish La Liga trip to play Deportivo La Coruna with a calf injury.

The Welsh star sustained a calf problem that resulted in him being substituted in the first half of El Clasico and he could now miss both legs of Real's Champions League semi-finals against Atletico Madrid.

"Following the tests carried out on Gareth Bale by the Sanitas Medical Services, the player has been diagnosed with a grade 2 injury in his left calf," a club statement read

"His recovery will continue to be assessed."

No timescale was put on his comeback but estimates suggest between two and three weeks.

After the game against Deportivo, Real play Valencia at home on the weekend.

The first leg of the Champions League semi-finals is on May 2 at the Bernabeu with the second leg on May 10.

Bale dislocated his ankle last November and missed three months after surgery. His comeback has been hampered by a calf strain in his right leg.
