Bastille Day film pulled in France

Associated Press Associated Press 17/07/2016

The action film Bastille Day starring Idris Elba has been withdrawn from French cinemas following the Nice truck attack that killed 84 people and wounded over 200.

The movie, which also stars Game of Thrones actor Richard Madden, centres around an effort to thwart a terrorist plot to bomb Paris.

StudioCanal spokesman Antoine Banet-Rivet says "the film has been withdrawn from cinemas out of respect for the victims and their families."

He said the film had been playing at 230 movie theatres across France. It came out on Wednesday, the day before a truck driver mowed down revellers watching Bastille Day fireworks on the Nice waterfront.
