Black Sticks men's coach Colin Batch has signed a new deal keeping him in the role until after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The former Australia international guided the side to the quarter-finals at the Rio Olympics where they conceded two goals in the final minute to suffer an agonising defeat to Germany.

"The men's programme has gone through some big changes during his time as coach and with a vast amount of depth now developed, we have complete belief in our structures, processes and athletes going forward," said Hockey NZ high performance director Terry Evans.
