Bates completes prolific county season

New Zealand women's cricket captain Suzie Bates has completed a hugely influential county championship season for winners Kent, finishing among the leading run-scorers and wicket-takers.

Kent secured a seventh title in 11 seasons, capping their dominance on the division one standings with a final-round 26-run defeat of Berkshire on Sunday.

Opener Bates, who scored 22, finished the season with 424 runs in 12 games - the third-most by any player - at an average of 42.4.

She also finished in the top 10 in the bowling stakes, claiming 19 scalps at an average of 9.5.
