Batman's batsuit is expected to sell for STG60,000 ($A104,593) at a rare film and television memorabilia sale in the UK.

The costume, which featured in 2012 hit The Dark Knight Rises, will be sold alongside Batman's Batpod motorcycle and more than 500 original items from other films at an auction next month.

Keira Knightley's wedding dress from Love Actually will also be up for grabs and is expected to sell for between STG5,000 ($A8,716) and STG7,000 ($A12,202), while the Sloth Mask from 1985 film The Goonies could reach STG40,000 ($A69,728).

The auction, held by Prop Store, will be the country's largest live sale of film and television memorabilia with lots expected to sell for more than STG1.5 million ($A2.61 million) in total.

Other items on offer include Arnold Schwarzenegger's original Terminator 2 Judgment Day costume, Harry Potter's Hogwarts acceptance letter from the first film in the series, and Steven Spielberg's clapperboard from Jaws.

A TIE Pilot helmet from Star Wars: A New Hope (1977) could fetch up to STG70,000 ($A122,025) at the sale.

The lots will be on display to the public at a free exhibition at the BFI IMAX in central London from September 14 until the auction on September 27.

Stephen Lane, Prop Store chief executive, said the sale was "truly unique event".

"This year brings an opportunity for film fans and collectors alike to view some of the world's most iconic film and TV items for free, and bid to secure their own pieces of movie and television history."

An original Stormtrooper helmet from Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back sold for STG78,000 ($A135,971) at the auction last year.
