NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 13/06/2016

A motorcyclist is dead after colliding with a truck on Auckland's Southern Motorway, causing traffic chaos south of the city.

The crash happened in the city-bound lanes near Walter Strevens Bridge in Takanini about 7.30am on Tuesday.

A queue of traffic was stretching 9km to Drury by 8am with New Zealand Transport Agency saying all northbound lanes were closed while police investigate.

The motorway reopened at about 9am, but drivers were still being warned to delay their commute or take alternative routes.
