NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 26/06/2016

A Black Power motorcyclist died on Friday while travelling to a tangi in Northland.

He was one of two riders travelling on the wrong side of the road who collided with two oncoming cars on State Highway 1 at Puhoi on Friday afternoon, says Senior Constable Karl Bevin.

They were part of a group of motorcyclists, believed to be patched Black Power members, travelling to a tangi in Northland who were riding erratically or overtaking on double yellow lines.

One rider, a 54-year-old man from Stratford, died on Friday afternoon from his injuries and the other, a 50-year-old from south Auckland, remains in a critical condition in Auckland Hospital.

Police want witnesses to come forward.
