Or maybe who was the funniest on the City Slickers set?

Billy Crystal, the star of both films and countless others, will be in New Zealand for an evening of conversation, hosted by Andrew Denton, where he will reflect on his life and career and be hilarious while doing so.

If someone can command a room, it's Crystal. He's hosted the Oscars nine times (Bob Hope is the only entertainer to host it more).

His latest memoir Still Foolin' 'Em: Where I've Been, Where I'm Going, and Where the Hell Are My Keys? became a recent New York Times bestseller.

Crystal started out as a stand-up comic before moving to TV and then film, where he found fame.

He last came to Australia nine years ago with his Tony Award-winning play, 700 Sundays for which he also won a Helpmann Award.

For this tour, he will perform shows in Brisbane, Perth and Auckland for the first time.

"I'm absolutely delighted to be back in Australia. My experience with 700 Sundays was fantastic. Audiences were sensational and the people we met were unforgettable," Crystal said.

"I'm also really excited to be working with Andrew Denton. He's very witty and incisive and we'll bring the best out of each other.

"The show will be spontaneous, funny and unpredictable. I tell stories, I perform, we show film clips. And yes, I will stand up. It's not only a conversation with Andrew, it's with the audience as well."
