Black Sticks' men to play for bronze

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 15/04/2016

New Zealand will play for bronze at the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup men's hockey tournament after India overtook them in the race to make the final.

The Blacks Sticks, who had arrived in Kuala Lumpur as defending champions, sat out the last day of pool play, having completed their round-robin matches.

To get another shot at the title, they needed India to lose to or draw with Malaysia, but the Indians won 5-1 and will meet Australia in the tournament decider.

New Zealand will face Malaysia in the third-place playoff.
