© Facebook/Black Sticks The Black Sticks have wrapped up the five-match women's hockey series against Malaysia with a game to spare following a 5-2 romp in Stratford.

New Zealand unearthed their best attacking display of a low-scoring series, racing 3-0 ahead inside the first 20 minutes of the fourth Test on Saturday.

It was a welcome performance after the world's fifth-ranked side lost the third Test 1-0 to opponents ranked 21st in the world.

They were heavily criticised by coach Mark Hager and responded with a fluent display up front, particularly early on.

Phoebe Steele scored from a penalty corner and Kirsten Pearce doubled the advantage in the first quarter.

Erin Goad found the net in the second quarter before Malaysia scored their first just after the main break.

Sam Harrison and Michaela Curtis both scored from reverse stick deflections to make the result safe before the tourists created a late consolation.

The final Test is on Sunday.
