The Black Sticks Women have drawn 1-1 with Spain in the second of their four-Test series in Barcelona.

Having fallen 2-1 in the first Test on Sunday, the Kiwi outfit put in a better performance in sticky conditions but couldn't come away with the win.

Spain opened the scoring in the 15th minute through Berta Bonastre, before Samantha Harrison's field goal levelled the scores five minutes before the break.

Try as they might, neither side could pinch a second-half winner.

"It was good to see our girls work harder today and lift the level of our play," Black Sticks Women assistant coach Sean Dancer said.

"It's still not the standard we know is required, but we're moving in the right direction - Spain have developed into a top level team."

The third Test will be held on Wednesday morning (NZT), as the Kiwis gear up for their World League Semi Final in Brussels at the end of the month.
