Police are still searching for a man who is believed to have left an incident in Christchurch dripping in blood.

Officers were called a home on Colenso Street in Sumner at about 5pm on Saturday and found a woman with minor injuries and blood that didn't belong to her.

They said a man was believed to have been at the home, but left before emergency services could arrive.

"Police have concerns for this man's wellbeing and would like to speak with him and check he doesn't require medical attention," a police spokesperson said.

The man is believed to have left on foot and police are asking anyone in the area who may have spotted a person bleeding or with blood on their clothes to come forward.

He was believed to have been wearing a grey t-shirt, black shorts, sports shoes and has a bald head.
