Boat body case treated as suspicious

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 4/08/2016

The death of man, whose body was found on a boat moored in Nelson, is being treated by police as suspicious.

The body was found about 10.45am on Thursday and Detective Inspector Paul Borrell says police are expected to remain at the scene, opposite a skate park on Queen Elizabeth II Drive, for the next couple of days.

He says police have already had some positive leads from the public but were seeking further information.

QEII Drive, which is part of State Highway 6, is the main route in and out of Nelson and is popular with commuters.

Mr Borrell said lots of people would have driven past the scene and police wanted to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area overnight or on Thursday morning.
