A body has been found by police divers in Waitemata Harbour, but police will not confirm it is that of missing man Tevita Kava.

Mr Kava, 29, from Mangere, fell overboard from a charter boat in Auckland's inner harbour on June 3.

A search on water and land, involving the Police Maritime Unit, Eagle helicopter, Land Search & Rescue, Coastguard, the Harbourmaster, Navy and volunteers, on June 4 and 5, failed to locate him and the search was called off on June 6.

The body of a man was discovered in the water near Te Atatu at about 9.30am Monday morning.

Police are unable to confirm the identity until formal identification has been completed.
