Boil water notice remains in Waimarama

Further tests of the Waimarama water supply have come back clear, but residents of the Hawke's Bay town have been told to continue to boil their water.

Hastings District Council asset manager Craig Thew has asked people to be patient while the full testing regime is completed.

The boil water notice was issued on Saturday after low levels of E coli were detected in the supply.

"We really do need to understand the cause," Mr Thew said on Monday.

"We want enough clear tests that we can be confident the risk has been mitigated."

Steps taken so far had included inspections of the reservoir, the spring site and the plant. The reservoir had been re-filled and there had been additional water testing and data analysis.
