BOP crash victim dies in hospital

A Bay of Plenty man has died in hospital a week after being involved in a crash between a truck and a motorhome.

Seventy-two-year-old Lenard Malcolm Fowell, from Kawerau, died in Tauranga Hospital on Wednesday.

A week earlier he was seriously injured in the crash on the Te Puke Highway, Rangiuru.

"Police's thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr Fowell," they said on Thursday.

"Police would also like to thank the members of the public who assisted at the crash scene."

Police are investigating the crash and Mr Fowell's death has been referred to the coroner.
