Melbourne City coach John van 't Schip isn't licking his lips at facing Western Sydney's leaky defence in Friday night's A-League meeting at Spotless Stadium.

But van 't Schip, who will welcome back Socceroo Luke Brattan and take Tim Cahill to Sydney for his first club game in his hometown in two decades, is excited by the prospect of watching two attacking sides go head-to-head.

"Seeing them playing against Perth and against Victory you know that there's a lot of football in that team. We like to play football as well so hopefully we can get a good open game," he said on Thursday.
