The New Zealand Breakers are still without a pre-season win two weeks out from the start of their NBL campaign.

The injury-hit Breakers were thumped 94-65 by the Sydney Kings on the first night of a tournament in Brisbane on Friday.

The result followed a 3-0 series loss to the Brisbane Bullets on New Zealand soil this month.

New coach Paul Henare was without injured shooting veterans Kirk Penney (calf) and Corey Webster (back) for the loss to Sydney in which the Breakers struggled with their defence from the outset and trailed 53-32 at halftime.

US guard Ben Woodside scored 14 points while Jordan Ngatai was the other player in double figures, with 10.

The Breakers face Cairns on Sunday and Adelaide on Monday as they continue to build towards the NBL season-opener at home to Melbourne United on October 7.
