It's all eyes on Melbourne for the New Zealand Breakers, whose NBL play-off involvement rests on the final game of the regular season.

The Breakers (14-14) will fill the fourth and final berth in the semi-final lineup courtesy of a countback if Melbourne United (13-14) beat defending champions the Perth Wildcats (14-13).

That would set up a best-of-three series against the top-qualifying Adelaide 36ers, starting on Thursday.

A Perth win would send the Wildcats into the top four, along with Adelaide (17-11), the Illawarra Hawks (15-13) and Cairns Taipans (15-13).

Melbourne, the Sydney Kings and Brisbane Bullets have been eliminated from a congested play-off race.

The Breakers and Wildcats kept themselves in contention with big home wins earlier this week, over Melbourne and Sydney respectively.

Illawarra confirmed their post-season involvement with a 106-79 home thumping of Brisbane on Saturday.

Hours later, Cairns did the same with a 98-89 upset of the 36ers in Adelaide.
