Breaking: Paris' Orly airport evacuated 'after gunshots fired inside terminal' as police launch security operation

Paris' Orly airport has been evacuated amid unconfirmed reports of shots being fired inside the terminal.

Passengers claimed on Twitter that they had heard gunshots and hostages had been taken.

However police have not confirmed why they have been called to the international airport south of Paris.

A police spokesman said on Twitter: "Ongoing police operation. Do not cross the security perimeter, follow the instructions."

One passenger wrote on Twitter that shots had been fired in the south terminal.

Another wrote: "Hostage-taking at Orly South, ongoing police operation, the airport evacuated."
