A Brisbane Broncos player has been fined $250 but escaped a recorded conviction after being busted behind the wheel while unlicensed.

Joseph Anthony Young Ofahengaue, 21, fronted the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday and pleaded guilty to driving while his licence was suspended as a result of not paying a State Penalties Enforcement Registry debt.

The court heard the New Zealand-born forward was unaware his licence had been suspended when he was pulled over by police in August this year, because his busy work schedule meant a letter about it "simply slipped through the cracks".
