The white Honda was found near the banks of the Raukokore River, a short distance from where Don Henry Turei Junior was struck and killed outside Raukokore Marae near Te Kaha after leaving a wedding on Saturday.

The 38-year-old and his brother were riding their motorbikes to the wedding reception when he was hit and the car sped off.

Police are treating his death as suspicious.

Detective Inspector Lew Warner says they want to speak to anyone who has information about the vehicle, how it came to be burnt out, or saw it driving in the area around 2-3pm on Saturday.
