Mike Bush has been re-appointed Commissioner of Police through to April 2020.

Police Minister Judith Collins announced the re-appointment on Wednesday.

"His focus will be on modernising the police workforce and building a more open and inclusive culture to deliver a world-class police force that better reflects the communities they serve," she said.

Mr Bush was initially appointed for three years in April 2014.

He has been re-appointed for another three year term.

Mr Bush has been a police officer since 1978, and was previously deputy commissioner operations and district commander for Counties Manukau.

"He is a highly respected leader who has achieved a lot during his term as commissioner," Ms Collins said.
