Tim Cahill will start for Melbourne City in Saturday night's derby at Etihad Stadium, marking his A-League debut against Melbourne Victory.

The all-time leading scorer for the Socceroos will link up with City captain Bruno Fornaroli, with City expected to play in a 3-4-3 formation that could present a significant challenge for their cross-town rivals.

In all, City have made three changes, bringing in Cahill for Anthony Caceres, defender Manny Muscat for Connor Chapman and goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis for suspended gloveman Thomas Sorensen.

Victory have made one change, with New Zealand international Marco Rojas filling the place of injured forward James Troisi.

Kevin Muscat has named wonder-teen Seb Pasquali on the bench.

The 16 year old would become the youngest Victory player if he comes on for his A-League debut.

Kickoff is at 7:50pm AEDT.
