Cane arriving late for Chiefs; Laulala out

Sam Cane must pass concussion protocols before being cleared to join his Chiefs team-mates in South Africa next week.

All Blacks openside flanker Cane was listed on Sunday in the 27-man squad to tour South Africa and Australia over the next three rounds.

However, he won't be available for Saturday's match against the Stormers in Cape Town.

If cleared to tour, Cane will fly to South Africa on Thursday and begin preparing for their following match against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein.

The news was more bleak for prop Nepo Laulala who, like Cane, was forced from the field with a head knock suffered during the 28-12 defeat of the Bulls in Hamilton on Saturday.

Four-Test tighthead Laulala was added to a list of 11 contracted players unavailable to tour.

Midfield back Johnny Fa'auli has been bracketed with uncapped Bay of Plenty representative Alex Nankivell.

Fa'auli's availability to tour is in doubt after being cited for a dangerous tackle against the Bulls which will be assessed by the SANZAAR judiciary.
