Cane on alert for resurgent Wallabies

All Blacks flanker Sam Cane is expecting a wounded Australian side to provide a much stiffer test in Saturday's Rugby Championship encounter in Wellington.

A win for the All Blacks in the capital will secure a 14th consecutive Bledisloe Cup for New Zealand and place them in the driving seat for the Rugby Championship crown.

The 24-year-old Cane told reporters on Monday that rugby sides tend to bounce back stronger after a tough loss, and the Wallabies were no different.

The Australians have come in for criticism from all quarters after a lifeless display in their 42-8 loss to the All Blacks in Sydney.

"They'll come here with a real steely determination to prove a point to themselves and their media, who have been a bit rough on them," the Chiefs skipper said.

"The best we can do is prepare well.

"We're certainly not lacking motivation because if we get this one right, we get to sip out of the Bledisloe."
