Wellington are the only team still winless in the domestic Twenty20 championship after succumbing to Canterbury in a super over tiebreaker in Christchurch.

Canterbury dominated the additional over after the scores finished tied at Hagley Oval, with seamer Ed Nuttall restricting the visitors to 5-2.

Offspinner Jeetan Patel couldn't stop the hosts posting 9-1 off three balls, which included five wides.

Earlier, Canterbury's 166-5 was built around 66 not out off 40 balls from Henry Nicholls.

Wellington's reply began sluggishly before wicketkeeper Luke Ronchi blasted 58 off 31 to help his reach 166-7.

Canterbury's first win from three games lifts them past Wellington to fifth in the six-team league.
