Carter nails last-gasp win for Racing

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 18/06/2016

Former All Black Dan Carter has delivered a last-gasp 34-33 win for French club team Racing-Metro 92 in their Top 14 semi-final against Clermont.

With the scores locked at 27-27 at the end of regulation time, the game appeared to have slipped out of Racing's grasp when Scott Spedding and Brock James landed extra time penalties for Clermont.

But Argentinian wing Juan Imhoff sprinted clear for a last-minute try which Carter coolly converted for the win.

Carter had already sunk four penalties and a conversion, his final effort securing a 16-point total for the match.

Racing will play the winner of the second semi-final, which pits Toulon against Montpellier at Rennes on Sunday (NZT), in the final on June 24 at Barcelona's Nou Camp stadium.
