Police and the New Zealand Rugby co-operated to investigate and bring charges against a man who allegedly received stolen All Blacks vs Lions test match tickets.

A 31-year-old Lower Hutt man will appear in the Wellington District Court on June 12, charged with receiving the stolen tickets.

It is believed the tickets were taken from a Wellington residential mailbox when they were delivered in early May.

After the man received the tickets, a family member attempted to sell them on Trade Me, and the incident was reported to police.

Detective Senior Sergeant Warwick McKee said police worked closely with the NZ Rugby Union to investigate the theft and it was satisfying to be able to hold the alleged thief to account.
