Chiefs lock Allardice out for season

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 23/06/2016

Chiefs lock Michael Allardice will miss the rest of the Super Rugby season after undergoing a knee operation.

Allardice, 24, was injured in the opening half of the Chiefs' 40-7 win over Wales in Hamilton last week.

He has had surgery to repair a meniscal tear in his right knee and faces three to four months out, the franchise said on Thursday.

It is the second year in a row that Allardice's Super Rugby season has been cut short by a injury.

He made his debut in 2015, making seven appearances before rupturing the medial ligament in his left knee against the Hurricanes.
