Child impaled on school fence in Auckland

A child has been taken to hospital after becoming impaled on a fence at an Auckland primary school.

The Fire Service and St John ambulance attended the accident at Owairoa Primary School in Howick on Saturday afternoon.

The child was freed by firefighters, the Fire Service says.

The child is a nine year boy who was taken to Middlemore Hospital with moderate injuries, the NZ Herald reports.
