Children found at drug houses: police

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 14/04/2016

Police say it's been a "huge disappointment" to find young children living at drug-dealing houses in an Auckland drug-bust operation.

Fifteen people are facing a collective 100 charges on dealing and supplying drugs including methamphetamine, cannabis, LSD, and ecstasy in the Waitemata district.

Police targeted 14 houses in a six-month operation, and seized a loaded gun and illegal stun-gun, along with the drugs.

Several of those arrested appeared in Waitakere and North Shore District Courts on Wednesday, and others are due to appear in the next few days.

Children aged between five and 10 were found at two of the drug houses and their cases have been referred to Child, Youth and Family.

Detective Inspector Bruce Scott said it was a "huge disappointment" to find young children living alongside illegal drugs.
