The Red Hot Chili Peppers received a rapturous reception as they brought the curtain down on T in the Park in central Scotland.

Lead singer Anthony Kiedis danced his way on to the main stage at Strathallan Castle in Perthshire, addressing the crowd: "Hey Scotland, so this is the festival?"

The Californian band - Kiedis, Michael "Flea" Balzary, Chad Smith and Josh Klinghoffer - opened with the hit Can't Stop.

Across the weekend thousands of revellers braved the mud to enjoy performances by some of Britain's top artists including Jake Bugg, James Bay and Faithless.

Festival organisers hailed this year's event as "unforgettable".
