Christchurch people feel better about life

A new survey shows 82 per cent of Christchurch residents rate their quality of life as good or extremely good.

That's unchanged since last year but a 74 per cent improvement since 2012, two years after the earthquakes.

Nicky Wagner, the minister supporting greater Christchurch regeneration, released the survey and said it showed stress was still a factor, with 72 per cent saying they had experience "some negative stress" in the last 12 months.

"But significantly fewer are indicating distress and anxiety associated with aftershocks, or being in a damaged environment," she said.

"Fewer people are affected by ongoing insurance and rebuild issues, and more people are responding to tangible signs of progress."
