Melbourne City aren't giving away whether main man Tim Cahill will start in Saturday night's A-League derby but are sure Victory will feel his presence.

Anthony Caceres, whose red card in the last Melbourne derby shows how intense the fixture can be, says Cahill's experience in big-match fixtures had helped their preparation.

"Having Tim around builds excitement. He's achieved great things and he wants to achieve things here. He's not here for a holiday - he's looking to help the game grow and have his presence felt," he told reporters on Thursday.
