Cloudy water hits Christchurch supply

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 6/10/2016

Some Christchurch residents are being urged to boil water before drinking it as the council tries to get to the bottom of why the supply is discoloured in parts of the city.

A pump station has been shut down as council officials investigate cloudy water reported by residents in the Avonhead-Russley area on Friday.

The pump station is thought to be behind the discolouration and the water is undergoing tests and the network flushed.

The council said if people had any concerns about the quality of the water they should boil it before drinking or use bottled water.
