Paul Coll has swatted aside one English opponent but now faces a potentially tougher one at the El Gouna International squash tournament in Egypt.

Kiwi No.1 Coll beat the unseeded Tom Richards 11-7 11-4 11-3 to set up a showdown with fifth seed James Willstrop.

Coll had climbed two spots in the world rankings coming into the tournament but will have his hands full on Monday (NZT) against seventh-ranked Willstrop.

A second Kiwi, Campbell Grayson, was a late qualifier for the main draw.

Grayson made a brilliant start against world No.17 Cameron Pillay of Australia before going down 6-11 5-11 11-3 13-11 11-9.

Meanwhile, leading Kiwi woman Joelle King opens her account on Sunday (NZT) at the women's world championship, also in El Gouna.

The ninth seed and world No.11 has battled for form in recent months but is favoured to beat unseeded Egyptian Heba El Torky.
