Commodore plea in missing gangster case

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 5/07/2016

Four months after a Levin gang associate disappeared amid rumours he was killed in a gang drug war, police have renewed a plea for any information.

Nomads associate Palmiro MacDonald, 36, has not heard from since March 23, when he was seen in a distinctive silver Holden Commodore.

Despite talking to a large number of people since then, police still want more information on a Commodore that got stuck in the sand at Waitarere Beach on the same day and needed to be towed out.

"Police would like to speak to the people who helped," they said on Wednesday.

Earlier, police said they could not rule out Mr MacDonald's disappearance as sinister - a Nomads gang house at Hokio Beach was also destroyed by fire on March 23.

In April, a Nomads gang source told Fairfax Mr MacDonald had been killed by the Head Hunters gang after he got into a fight with allies the Mongrel Mob over methamphetamine.
