Community work for quad bike cow rammer

File © Marilyn Barbone/Getty Images File A Waikato milking contractor has been banned from the industry for a year after twice ramming a cow with a quad bike.

Christopher Mark Bennett, 56, will also have to complete 125 hours of community work after the incident on a Raglan farm.

Bennett was rounding up stock when he rammed a difficult cow in full milk, at last twice.

Horse riders on the farm reported Bennett to the Ministry for Primary Industries.

"There is never an excuse for ill-treatment of animals. MPI takes any reports of abuse very seriously," MPI investigations manager Simon Anderson said.
