Consistent Ko eases up leaderboard

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 11/06/2016

Lydia Ko's consistency in testing conditions has eased her up the leaderboard into a share of third place at the halfway stage of the women's PGA Championship in Washington.

First round leader Brooke Henderson and Mirim Lee share the lead at Sahalee Country Club, one stroke ahead of Ko, Brittany Lincicome and Gerina Piller.

World No.1 Ko picked up two birdies in her first five holes, but back-to-back bogeys at the par-4 seventh and eighth left her even at the turn.

The 19-year-old Kiwi ignored the tough, rainy conditions to par the next seven holes before making birdie on the par-3 17th and closed with another par.

Ko's one-under 70 gave her a two-round total of 141 as she looks to win her second major of the year.
