Construction industry looks at NZ's needs

The construction industry will hold an "all of industry" forum in August which will look for ways to respond to the country's building needs.

The Constructive Forum, formed last year by the Registered Master Builders Association, is organising the meeting which will involve industry and political leaders as well as architectural, engineering and property development firms.

"It's important we understand that the issues we are facing in New Zealand are in fact global issues," RMBA chief executive David Kelly said on Monday.

"Across the world we are seeing rapid population growth in urban areas, which is putting pressure on housing and infrastructure."

Mr Kelly says issues discussed will include pre-fabrication, modular building, automated building techniques and business information modelling.

The forum will be held in Auckland from August 2 to 4.
