Parramatta playmaker Corey Norman has been stood down for eight rounds, effectively ending his NRL season.

Norman was on Thursday ruled out until the end of round 26 and fined $20,000 by the NRL for his recent run of bad behaviour.

The NRL said he was handed the punishment for his conviction for drug possession, being warned by police about consorting with known criminals and his sex tape which was offered to the media.
