Kiwi tennis players Rubin Statham, Michael Venus, Marcus Daniell and Artem Sitak have been named to represent New Zealand in next month's Davis Cup first-round play-off against South Korea in Auckland.

Venus and Statham, who is ranked No.392 in the world, will play singles while Daniell and Sitak will pair up for the doubles match.

Daniell slots into the side in the place of the dumped Finn Tearney, with Venus switching from his preferred doubles format to singles.

South Korea, meanwhile, will be able to call upon world No.92 Hyeon Chung and world No.135 Duckhee Lee in the singles matches.

The two countries played in 2016, with the Koreans emerging triumphant by 3-1.

"Korea are always going to be tough. They have a top-100 ranked player and another guy in the top 150," Kiwi captain Alistair Hunt said.

"We know the court well in Auckland and I think it's going to be a great tie with some top tennis."

A loss against South Korea will leave New Zealand one defeat away from relegation into Group Two of the Asia-Oceania division next year.

The 31-year-old Sitak, who has made three ATP semi-finals on the doubles circuit in 2017, felt hometown advantage could be key.

"I'm happy to be named and hopefully I can make a difference," he said.
