Daniell into Montpellier doubles semis

Marcus Daniell is two wins away from an ATP doubles title after a tight quarter-final win in France.

Daniell and Brazilian partner Marcelo Demoliner overcame a slow start to beat French opponents Julien Benneteau and Jeremy Chardy 1-6 6-2 10-6 at the Open Sud de France tournament in Montpellier.

The tournament fourth seeds will face Alexander and Mischa Zverev in the semi-finals.

The German brothers upset the third-seeded combination of Kiwi Michael Venus and Swede Robert Lindstedt.

Meanwhile, New Zealander Artem Sitak and American Nicholas Monroe were to contest a quarter-final at the Ecuador Open in Quito later on Friday (NZT). The third seeds' opponents are wildcards Gonzalo Escobar (Colombia) and Juan Pablo Paz (Argentina).
