Daniel and Brazilian partner Marcelo Demoliner eased past Sergio Galdos (Peru) and Hans Podlipnik-Castillo (Chile) 6-3 6-2 in quarter-finals, setting up a clash with Facundo Bagnis and Guillermo Duran.

Less successful at the same event was Kiwi Artem Sitak and American Nicholas Monroe, who lost their quarter-final 6-7 6-2 10-6 to Brazilians Andre Sa and Rogerio Dutra Silva.

At a concurrent ATP tournament in Acapulco, top-ranked New Zealand doubles player Michael Venus and Robert Lindstedt (Sweden) went down in straight sets to Raven Klaasen (South Africa) and Rajeev Ram (United States) in the opening round.
